The Frog Heads and Shiv ling : Lalit k kaul

The Frog heads and Shivling

                            Lalit K Kaul

The article does not purport to be an apologetic explanation of Shiv and Shiv Ling, but to inform Frog heads of their infinitesimal intellect and therefore capability to comprehend symbolism.

Ling is a Sanskrit word which means Symbol (Prateek); in Hindi language there are words like Stri-ling and Pu-ling; Stri-ling means symbol for woman and Pu-ling means symbol for men.

What does Shiv Ling Symbolize?

It is a symbol of Shiv. Shiv is worshipped in this manifest Phallic form. While all other Devi and Devtas are worshipped in their embodied form, Shiv is worshipped in its Phallic form and as well as in his embodied form. Shiv being Brahm-Roop is called Nirakar (formless) and since it has a form too, it is called Sakar (having form). Therefore, Shiv is both Sakar and Nirakar. Shiv Ling is the symbol of Nirakar Roop and its embodied form (Mahadev) is the symbol of Sakar Roop. Shiv is worshipped in both of these forms.

Because of Shiv being both formless and with form, therefore He is known as Paramatma (Brahmroop).  All other Devtas are not Brahmroop and hence they have no symbolic representation and have only embodied form.

The entire Universe (Brahmand) is within Shiv; it emerges from Shiv and merges back into it (Creation and Dissolution) and Shiv Ling is symbol of That One and Only One Shiv. How this process of Creation and Dissolution happens is a profound philosophy stated in terms of Shiv and Shakti (Shiva) and is beyond scope of this piece.

All Jyotirlings are of the shape of an egg and that’s exactly the shape of Brahmand. If one looks at the pictures of the Universe taken by the scientists, one will find that the shape is that of a Shivling- elliptical (egg shaped).

Shivling is timeless, it has no beginning no end.

Shiv is primordial element immanent in every being and but for it there would have been no life existing in this universe. It’s in plants (lowest level of consciousness) right through up to (highest level of consciousness) the human beings.

The Filthy Mind of Frog Heads:

It’s not the eyes that see, it is the mind; the interpretation of a symbol depends upon how pure or impure one’s mind is. Those, for whom Earth is flat and Sun drowns in a mud pot at the Sun set and who are obsessed with multiplying their  numbers are only capable of belittling Shiv Ling because 24×7 they plough their fields.

The self proclaimed intellectuals too fall in the category of Frog Heads, as do the Communists who spend their lifetimes in understanding Marx & Marx alone and end up with zero understanding and finally selectively use Marxian concepts to plan disintegration of India.

The Shiv Natraj:

The Frog heads won’t comprehend this symbol and end up giving some obscene interpretation. To reproduce what Shiv Natraj signifies, is an attempt at putting some head in the Frog heads.

The symbol Shiv Natraj is a brilliant invention. It combines in a single image Shiv’s role as Creator, Preserver and Destroyer of the universe and conveys the never-ending cycle of time. It’s Shiv as lord of Dance; the Dancing Shiv.

The Cosmic Dance of Shiv is the Dance of Bliss, and symbolizes the cosmic cycles of creation and destruction, as well as the daily rhythm of birth and death.

The World’s Largest Particle Physics Lab CERN, Switzerland:

This laboratory has installed a statue of Shiv- Natraj at it’s very entrance; this laboratory is home to the Large Hardon Collider and one of the premier research institutes in the world.

It was installed because of a metaphor that was drawn between the Cosmic Dance of the Natraj and the modern study of the “ cosmic dance” of subatomic particles.

Unveiled on June 18, 2004, the two-meter-tall statue was a gift from the GOI. A plaque next to the statue, with a quote by Fritjof Capra, explains its significance:

“Hundreds of years ago, Indian artists created visual images of dancing Shivas in a beautiful series of bronzes. In our time, physicists have used the most advanced technology to portray the patterns of cosmic dance. The metaphor of the cosmic dance thus unifies ancient mythology, religious art and modern physics”.

That’s the difference between a Frog Head & an Inquisitive Mind:

The Frog Heads would only laugh at the whole idea because to acknowledge it would be Irreligious; and the self proclaimed intellectuals would clap in unison.

Where Lays the Problem?

Instruction to read only one Book and its associated ones; like Indian Communists read either Marx or Mao and any other philosophy is anathema to them. So, the people of One Book end up only destroying the world and dehumanizing the societies, as is known from the history of these tribes.

Therefore, when one sees a capped bearded moustachless person using abusive language against Shiv Ling on a TV channel and other Frog heads clapping, one can only detest their culture and their upbringing that makes them unfit to live in a civilized society.

By their public demeanour, they not only bring disgrace to their lineage, but also to the faith they belong.

Communists, however, are known to have sprouted from stones, yet they haven’t found a way yet to dispose of their dead bodies that would be different from cremation, burying or the Parsi way.

The worst of the above lot are the Hindu “intellectuals” who cannot fix their coordinates in Time and Space and therefore swing like a pendulum between the Communists and those who claim to be direct descendants of Allah and are eternally in direct communication with Him and who keeps reminding them that Earth is Flat and Sun sets into a mud pot.

Lastly, it would be appropriate to state that these capped bearded and moustachless breed and their supporters have only spat at the Sky for them to wipe their faces of their spit because Allah, Marx or Mao won’t do it.
