Pradhan Mantri “Anpad” Hai Lalit K Kaul Some years ago the SC of India decreed that the minimum qualification for an individual to contest Panchayat election should be SSC pass! This decree betrayed how far removed the Court was from what’s is known as socio- political dynamics in a village, district, state and the Indian Nation. Students are taught languages, physical and biological sciences, history and geography in schools up to class X. Do these subjects make a student aware of the real-world social dynamics in a place of student’s residence, town, district and Nation? No. Learning social dynamics is an art that only a fertile and sensitive mind is apt at and for that the requirement is that this individual should know local language so that interaction with locals is possible.
