Propagating Unmitigated Lies is in the DNA of BJP
Lalit K Kaul
When a Prime Minister of a Nation speaks unmitigated lies in the Indian Parliament, it sets a precedence for its people; speaking lies ceases to be a reprehensible act because the leader has sanctified it; it becomes an integral part of cultural ethos and becomes a dominant instrument in furthering political interests of, a political outfit, a religious sect and communities. It gives birth to a degenerate political culture that strives to place a political party’s interests over the national ones; creates divisions in the society and motivates people in general to speak lies to further their cause at their level. When falsehood is sanctified, it becomes unchangeable truth and facilitates all dishonest and corrupt ways in one’s life. And, it’s precisely this that one comes across while trying to decipher as to why in our country it’s very easy to get Aadhar cards, voter ID cards and birth certificates for illegal immigrants like Rohingyas and Bangladeshis including Pakistanis. In a systematically designed degenerate political system the political outfits which stand to gain electorally by influx of illegal immigrants, their leaders collude with the bureaucracy to regularize the illegal entrants into our country. A unique real time example of how party interests outweigh National interests and are pursued even at the expense of Nation’s demographic and territorial integrity.
Positing Falsehoods as Incontrovertible Truths:
On Feb 8 2018, the PM of India stated in the Parliament, “Had Sardar Patel become PM all of Kashmir might have been part of India”. He is also on record having said, “Had Sardar Patel been allowed to handle Kashmir there wouldn’t have been any Kashmir problem”. Let’s dig into history to find out how true are the statements made by the PM of India.
In his book, Pakistan — The India Factor, Rajendra Sareen has documented a conversation between Sardar Patel and Sardar Abdul Rab Nishtar, a minister in the Pakistan cabinet, in which Patel has been quoted as saying: “Bhai, give up this talk of Hyderabad and Junagarh, and talk of Kashmir. Take Kashmir and settle the issue.”
Sareen offers another gem on page 432 of his book when he quotes Sirdar Shaukat Hayat, a member of the Pakistan constituent assembly who was present in a meeting between Lord Louis Mountbatten and Pakistan prime minister Liyaqat Ali. Mountbatten conveyed Patel’s message to Liyaqat Ali that if Pakistan keeps out of Hyderabad, India would leave Kashmir. Liyaqat Ali reacted sharply to Hayat, commending the proposal, and retorted: “Sirdar Saheb, have you gone out of your mind? Why should we leave a province [Hyderabad] larger than Punjab and settle for some mountain rocks?”
Patel’s trusted aide V.P. Menon, who was Secretary of States, amply corroborates Sareen’s account. Menon, who was reporting directly to Patel, chronicles a meeting between Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh and Lord Mountbatten in June 1947. The Governor General told the Maharaja, “If he (Maharaja) acceded to Pakistan, India would not take it amiss and he had firm assurance on this from Sardar Patel himself.” V. Shankar, who was then political secretary to Patel, too observed In his memoirs (Shankar: My Reminiscences of Sardar Patel, 1974) that Patel was willing to back the Maharaja. “If the Ruler (of J&K) felt that his and his State’s interest lay in accession to Pakistan, he would not stand in his way,” Shankar has quoted Patel. Nehru was instinctively opposed to the idea of giving away Kashmir. For him, Kashmir’s separation would amount to endorsement of the two-nation theory.
Prof Saifuddin Soz told The Print Editor-in-Chief on NDTV’s “Walk The Talk” show:
“From the very first day Sardar Patel was adamant that Kashmir should go to Pakistan. In the partition council, he tried his level best to convince Liaquat Ali to take Kashmir and leave Hyderabad-Deccan,” Soz said. “There was a fight, Sardar Mohammed Ali was there. Sardar Patel told Liaquat Ali, don’t even talk about Hyderabad-Deccan. It isn’t even connected with Pakistan. You leave Hyderabad to us, and take Kashmir”.
“I will tell you a very fascinating story,” Soz said. “When our army landed in Srinagar, the same afternoon Mountbatten went to Lahore. There was a dinner with Governor of Pakistan, Liaquat Ali Khan, and four Pakistan ministers. Mountbatten said, I have brought a message from the strongman of India, Sardar Patel. Take Kashmir and forget Hyderabad-Deccan, it’s not even connected with you.” “But as Sardar Shaukat Hayat Khan writes in his book,” Soz said, “Liaquat Ali neither understood history, nor geography.” So, he did not accept the offer.
For further reference, one may refer to “Demystifying Kashmir” by Navnita Chadha Behera. If one is interested in knowing how this team of Mountbatten Nehruji Dwarka Nath Kachroo and V P Menon ensured that J&K acceded to India, he/she may refer to “Birth of A Tragedy Kashmir 1947” by Alastar Lamb. All these historical facts bring out the Truth about Kashmir and falsehood of the PM of India as propagated by him on the subject.
Addressing a gathering in Vadodara's Sadhli village, Rajnath Singh said, “When Pandit Nehru raised the issue of spending money from the government treasury on the Babri Masjid, if anyone opposed this, it was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel…” To this accusation, The Indian Express reported: For detailed report click at the link below

Some lines from the above link:
“It is not clear which incident Rajnath Singh is referring to. In the publicly available letters and speeches of Nehru, a reference of him wanting to use government money on Babri is difficult to find. However, what is amply clear from his letters is that Nehru was staunchly against a communal dispute around the Babri mosque. In this, he was joined by Sardar Patel, who too wanted the issue “resolved amicably in a spirit of mutual toleration and goodwill between the two communities.”
“From his letters, it is clear that Nehru was concerned about the increasing communal tendencies within his own party and saw danger ahead. He believed that the Ayodhya situation would have bearing on the Kashmir issue and on India’s dealing with Pakistan on the international stage”. Just like Nehru, Patel too shot off a letter to Pant after the idols were placed in the Babri mosque (Sardar Patel’s Correspondence, Volume 9. Edited by Durga Das).
“The Prime Minister has already sent to you a telegram expressing his concern over the developments in Ayodhya. I spoke to you about it in Lucknow. I feel that the controversy has been raised at a most inopportune time… The wider communal issues have only been recently resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the various communities. So far as Muslims are concerned, they are just settling down to their new loyalties. We can reasonably say that the first shock of partition and the resultant uncertainties are just beginning to be over and that it is unlikely that there would be any transfer of loyalties on a mass scale,” he wrote.
That exposes Rajnath Singh for his audacity to disfigure those who lead the Independence struggle from the front.
Then comes a huge lie from Nishikant Dubey who stated in the Lok Sabha that Smt. Indira Gandhi had apologized to Ronald Reagan, the President of the USA! In an article written by Suzanne F Green dated July 29, 1982 titled ‘President Reagan and Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi toasted…, one comes to know how cordial the meeting was and which discussed about improving the relationships between the two Nations. Some clippings from the article:
Among the goals the two nations share, Reagan said, are ‘the peace and stability of the Indian Ocean area and the early end of the occupation of Afghanistan.’ Strengthening the U.S.-India relationship ‘based on better understanding is particularly important at this time,’ the president said. Mrs. Gandhi stressed that mutual friendship is possible even though India must remain non-aligned. White House observers said the speech was the warmest and most flattering she has delivered to an American president since 1966, when she began her first term as prime minister. ‘We cannot get involved in power grouping. That would be neither to our advantage nor would it foster world peace,’ the Indian leader said. ‘Our hand of friendship is stretched out to all. One friendship does not stand in the way of another. ‘No two countries can have the same angle of vision … but they can find a common area on which to build and enhance cooperation,’ she said.
No mention of any apology! It is quite clear that the BJP leadership thrives on character assassination of those who had navigated the Indian Nation from turbulent times to much stable ones.
And they claim to be “Sri Ram Bhakts”! Wonder if Sri Ram ever spoke lies!!
