Article 370 35A and Pakistan: Lalit K Kaul
Article 370 35A and
Pakistan
Lalit K Kaul
Pakistani media is crying hoarse
about abrogation of the Article 370 and 35A by the Indian Parliament on 05 08
2019 and the PM and FM of Pakistan have been saying that there shall be no
talks with India unless these said articles are restored! In Hindi there is a
saying which goes like:
“बेगानी शादी में अब्दुल्ला दीवानाبیگانی شادی میں
عبدللہ دیوانہ
आपजी कौन मै खामखाह “ “آپ جی کون مہ خامخاہ
The above public statement of Pakistan PM and FM
smacks of arrogance and impertinence, but this quality they have inherited from
the founder of Pakistan who was arrogance personified and never true to his
word.
Pakistani political leadership, if there is any,
ought to know that no nation, big or small and powerful or weak, is dying to
talk to the other nation and that the talking is done only if it is expected to
cater to the mutual interests of both. To make a statement like the one made by
Pakistan PM and FM presupposes that India is dying for a bilateral meeting as
if She is totally at their mercy. This kind of behaviour is unique to Pakistan
and her pal China. That the nations-big or small- don’t give a damn about the
self proclaimed supremacy of any nation, China is learning the hard way, but
Pakistan is not in the picture at all because she is being ordered/kicked
around by those who have provided her with crutches to move on.
Bundle of Contradictions:
The very foundation of Pakistan was based on an
irrational theory that religion defines a race, a civilization - its politics,
economics and culture. This theory was propounded by the Founder of Pakistan
who was a Sufi Shia and had never lived as a Muslim; it is known that Shias are
looked down upon by Sunnis in Pakistan & elsewhere as Kafirs. That the
founder was a Kafir is the riddle that Pakistanis can never solve and thus as
an existential requirement acknowledge Jinnah as Qaid – e – Azam.
A nation that is born based on irresolvable
contradictions and paradoxes is bound to be a bundle of contradictions and
confusions in her tenure of existence, as is being witnessed since her
inception. A nation with dysfunctional constitution; army ever ready to take
over the reins of administration; terrorists organizations and the
Establishment calling shots on everything that is government business including
the foreign policy; Islamic State of Pakistan opting for ‘Constitution’ instead of Islamic doctrine;
follow Sharia but also institutionalize English (Kafir) system for rendering
justice; Islam prohibits painting, photography, music & women moving out
without an escort and not fully clad,
yet have visual media network including TV channels anchored by unclad and
without escort women and theatres, Urdu Shayari and of course films
productions. The Moulvis, who call for Jihad against India and aim at Ghazwa e
Hind, appear before camera to profess their religious doctrine; appearing
before camera is Kufaar then how the Moulvis can give a call for Jihad? One can go on ad infinitum.
Height of Incongruity:
Any person with average/below average commonsense
will never intervene in a matter that is not his/her business. Politicians
across the world may have tendencies to twist the history in a way to serve
their political interests & that’s why history as outlined by a politician
may not be trustworthy, but while doing so a sane person does not lose sight of
commonsense. Pakistani politicians are a different kind of specie; governed by
this itching desire to spread falsehoods and political debauchery is their
indulgence.
So they feel free to talk about Article 370 &
35 A and in fact on every matter that is Indian and does not concern them. A
nation born on false and irrational World View is bound to behave irrationally.
So, obviously, there won’t be any foreign policy adviser in FM’s secretariat
who would advise him that 370 & 35A are not Pakistan’s business because
Pakistan was not a signatory to the Indian Parliament’s act of granting special
status to the erstwhile state of J&K and therefore India was not obliged to
consult Pakistan on its revocation. The part of J&K that was cleared of the
marauding Pakistani soldiers & tribals was never an integral part of
Pakistan and therefore Pakistan never had any role/claim in J&K. Pakistanis
are advised to read Lahore Declaration of 1940 and also the conditions on which
the Indian National Congress had agreed for the partition of the Indian Sub
Continent.
True to their Founder, the Pakistani government –
military or civil – spread canards about J&K only to hide their sinister
designs, but could make no impact in the comity of nations as falsehoods can’t withstand
the scrutiny of history. Even OIC snubbed Pakistan innumerable times.
Need to Derecognize:
Pakistan has no claim on any part of J&K,
historically since her birth. India need to derecognize Pakistan insofar as
J&K region is concerned. There is no need to talk to Pakistan because her
existence as a neighbour is neither harmful nor beneficial to India. Militarily
she can’t harm, much less annex any Indian territory and Pakistan has nothing
to offer to India on economical and technological front. In any case Pakistan as
a nation does never occur to an average Indian and hence her existence or disappearance
is a non issue for them.
The situation is like there is some object
(Pakistan) placed outside the compound wall of a house (India); the ownership of
the object does not belong to the house owner and hence the house owner can
neither move it inside the compound wall nor dispose it off to a garbage truck.
The house owner must get along with his life ignoring the object.
There is this beautiful couplet that defines what
should be India’s attitude towards Pakistan. It goes something like this:
