Who conspired to eliminate the Combined Defense Services (CDS) Chief Mr. Bipin Rawat?
Lalit K Kaul
When China attacked India in 1962,
the Communists rejoiced and in fact the then ordinance factories which had
recognized Communist Workers Union went on strike in support of their demands
at a time when India was in desperate need for increased production of
armaments to counter Chinese invasion.
The undivided Communist Party in
India always had their sympathies with China under leadership of Mao Zedong and
the erstwhile USSR under the leadership of Nikita Khrushchev, till they split
in 1964 in which one of the issues was: whether to tow Mao or Khrushchev.
The Congress led by Sonia Gandhi,
who was acknowledged as the de facto PM of India for a continuous span of ten
years even while Manmohan Singh had been elevated to the Chair, is known to
have signed a pact, as the Congress President, between the Congress and the CCP
of China; while Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi were standing in as the prime
witnesses. When Sri Mahesh Jethmalani took the issue to the SC of India, the
court directed him to approach Delhi HC! Nothing is heard about it since.
The then Defense Minister of India
Sri A K Antony made a statement in the Lok Sabha that there was no need to
develop infrastructure along LAC as India was no match for the Chinese might!
The net result, as per the print media reports, was that the Chinese kept
annexing Indian territories and ended up grabbing lots of square kilometers of
the same!
The Government since the year 2014:
The NDA government is said to have
given free hand to the Indian army/ military to make strategies and action
plans for countering Chinese at LAC and Pak at LOC. The government has been
upgrading and enhancing infrastructure for Military use along LAC, LOC and Air
defense systems including protection of sea territories belonging to India.
This fast pace developments enabled
Indian forces to stop Chinese in their tracks along the entire length of the
LAC including the one in Bhutan; it also succeeded to a very large extent in
thwarting nefarious designs of Pak along the LOC.
The need for a joint command of the
three wings of the Indian Military was felt to be established and that thinking
gave birth to CDS of which the first chief was Mr Bipin Rawat. He was an
acknowledged professional and was acclaimed for the same.
Whose discomfort was the CDS Chief?
The man and the Indian military,
because of the policies of the NDA government in the defense sector, had not
only upheld the honour and esteem of the Indian State by standing up to the
bully along LAC and mentally sick on the LOC, but had succeeded in making
Chinese retreat from most of the incursions they had made in 2020; that man,
the leader of CDS. Mr Bipin Rawat had to be eliminated by the forces inimical
to the integrity of India.
Who are such forces? Enough has been
said about them in the first few paragraphs of this article. The people on the
payrolls of Chinese and Pakistan couldn’t countenance the humiliation of the
bully China and that of mentally sick Pak due to surgical strikes. They even
questioned the veracity of such acts by the Indian Military that had shown
their due place to both the hostile neighbours.
Therefore the act of sabotage had
become imminent as the masters had to be pleased and it is a well known fact
that the bureaucracy is infiltrated with political affiliations of different
kinds and therefore to plan sabotage may not be such a difficult task more so
in a country where Ma Lakshmi is all prevalent and influential.
Had Mr. Bipin Rawat become too big
for his boots?
Politics has its own compulsions
because it is acknowledged as “Art of the Possible” and therefore true and
honest professionalism of an employee/officer in any public or private sector
may cause discomfiture to the bosses/powers that be. Therefore termination
and/or elimination of the professional are the options available to the employers/State.
Dismissing Sri Bipin Rawat from his services or sending him on long leave
followed by replacement by a more pliable one was not possible as it would have
caused uproar in the public and print & electronic media. There have been
many such instances where influential ones have been neutralized via air
crashes; the case of Homi J Bhabha; Sanjay Gandhi; Rajasekhar reddy etc; other
methods like road accidents & deliberate delay in providing medical
treatment (Shyama Prasad Mukherjee & L N Misra) have also been employed.
The tragic episode needs thorough
investigation:
The rumour/news is doing rounds that
the helicopter used for the transit was too old machinery; if true, and then it
needs to be seriously investigated in to. The maintenance schedule of the
helicopter needs to be checked to verify whether maintenance of its parts was
being done as per schedule. Who was in charge of its maintenance and when was the
last one done? Was its flying condition checked before giving it the approval
to fly? Had it crossed the number of flying hours as guaranteed by its original
manufacturer? Who sanctioned use of that ill fated helicopter? The political
affiliations of the maintenance staff and their bosses also needs to be
investigated without any fear or favour because it’s always political
strategies behind such tragedies as some goals inimical to the interests of the
Indian Union are to be achieved.
