It can happen only in Pakistan : Lalit K Kaul
It can happen only
in Pakistan
Lalit K Kaul
The Home Minister, Sri Sheikh Rashid,
pronounced that army should intervene in the ensuing anarchy and political
instability, in order to restore order. On the day when no-confidence motion
was to be moved (put to voting), the Deputy Speaker reading from a prepared
text declared that the no-confidence motion was being moved by the opposition
leaders at the behest of foreign powers and hence they were traitors to the
cause of Pakistan and therefore he wouldn’t allow the proceedings leading to
proving the strength (or lack of it) of the ruling party in the National Assembly;
thereafter he got up and ran towards the exit of the premises. The opposition
parties moved Supreme Court of Pakistan where the case has gone into coma.
Who rules/ has been ruling Pakistan?
There is this Ghost called
Establishment; nothing specific is defined/known about it as ghosts can’t be
specific and there are no checks put on it because ghosts are beyond human
control. Every institution, individual, politician and Constitution of Pakistan;
just every Pakistani is subservient to it.
This Ghost has an embodied form too
and that’s Pakistan’s Army Chief (PAC); like a person’s shadow this PAC is
found following the PM of Pakistan everywhere the PM may choose to go
(hopefully not to the toilet). Like that famous Bollywood film’s Villain
dialogue “Meri ijazat kae bagair parinda bhi par nahi mar sakta”(मेरी इजाज़त के बगैर
परिंदा भी पर नहीं मार सकता / میری اجازت کے بگیر پرندہ بھی پر نہیں
مار سکتا );
nothing happens in Pakistan without the consent of this embodied form of the
Ghost.
The courts including the SC can’t give a
judgement/decree unfavourable/embarrassing to the federal government of the
day, if supported by the Ghost; the Election Commission can’t probe into
scandals of the ruling party, if supported by the Ghost; like, the foreign
funding case against Imran Khan and PTI by one of its founding members, the
case has been going on with clear cut evidence against Imran Khan and PTI, but
awaits a green signal from the Ghost. It is acknowledged by the political
analysts that the much awaited green signal will come only if the Ghost has
decided to devour the PM.
The Foreign Minister and the PM can’t plan anything
much less implement without getting a nod from the Ghost.
In short the Ghost is Pakistan personified and
Pakistan is Ghost personified like one of the mentally bankrupt sycophants had
pronounced, ”Indira is India and India is Indira” only to experience a brick
wall type fall for the Congress; but the
Ghost is not going to be liberated and shall continue to boss over.
What Pakistan’s Political Analyst have been saying,
since long?
They attach the famous Bollywood
film’s Villain dialogue to the Establishment, whenever they discuss political
situation in Pakistan. Those who say so are highly respectable individuals
like, Najam Sethi, Dr. Mataiullah Jan, Syed Talat Hussain and others of their
calibre. Recently, post dissolution of the National
Assembly, one of the political commentators in one of the media channels said
that this army is not the one who can fight as they are in real estate
business; producing and marketing milk products, potato chips, etc; running
pizza outlets and all possible business enterprises a civilized society can
have. This was in response to the anchor’s question: why doesn’t the army take
over?
The opposition’s case in the SC
having gone into coma; the parties are questioning the declared “neutrality” by
the Establishment because they know that until a nod comes (this way or that
way) from the Ghost the SC dare not give any judgement/decree and the hearing
process in the name of giving everyone a chance to plead his/her case will
continue ad infinitum.
Will Pakistan disintegrate again?
The genesis of Bangladesh laid in
the fact of denial to Sheikh Mujibur Rehman of his legitimate/constitutional
right to become PM of the then Pakistan as his Awami League had won majority in
National Assembly; he was declared traitor by Bhutto/Yah Yah combine and the
East Pakistanis were subject to unprecedented barbarism (comparable to
Holocaust) in which 30 million women and girls were raped by the army; the
resistance force “Mukhti Bahani” was born while lakhs of innocent residents of
East Bengal found refuge in neighbouring India. Rest is the history and Smt.
Indira Gandhi was showered with accolades like “men have created history while
Indira ji created geography”
The political situation as obtained
today is very nearly similar to the one that ended up creating Bangladesh. The
TLP and Maulana Fazul Rehman’s outfit have threatened with public
demonstrations and nobody need doubt their capacities to mobilize lakhs onto
the streets. Only Time shall answer the question.
The History of Pakistan:
Few words summarize the history of
Pakistan. Perpetually in a state of disorder and uncertainties; contempt for
everything that’s civilized; caught in a tug-of-war between 7th and
21st century CE; Islamic Republic but governed by democratic principle,
ostensibly though as it claims to have a Constitution and all that; nursery for
all brands of terrorists as a terrorist of Pak origin is found everywhere in
the terror devastated region(s); in denial mode with its pre 14th
Aug, 1947 history and culture as integrated part of the Indian Sub Continent
for thousands of years; strenuously tries to locate its roots in Arabia, Turkey
and Central Asia, etc. So, in short, Pakistan has existential problem as it refuses
to accept its roots and therefore continues to live in wilderness.
Why Pak is such an Irrational and
Unreliable Nation State?
It is simple. It
was founded on an irrational world view. Its founder, M. A. Jinnah, was a
living example of a non-Muslim masquerading as a Muslim; expert in U turns and
has been thoroughly emulated by Imran Khan. His unpardonable U turns have been
about his depraved claim on the then princely state of J&K and his
annexation of Baluchistan by force. In both the cases he went back on his word;
he signed a pact with Baluchistan government for ensuring its integrity and
security and it’s mentioned that he had collected gold in weight equal to his
own for the purpose; he always maintained that his demand for separate Nation
for Muslims did not include areas under the Princely States, but was to be
carved out from the area under direct British rule. Post formation of Pakistan
he realized that he had got a moth eaten kind of a geographical area and hence
he did what he did to Baluchistan and the princely state of J&K.
The ideologues for
justifying separate country for Muslims were people like Allama Iqbal who had
written “Saarey Jahan sae Accha Hindustan Hamaara…” and then chose to be in the
forefront for division of India. Most of their ideologues were like him and
that shows how opportunistic they were in realizing their dreams of holding
reins of political power.
Let every Momeen
rest assured that Pak was not carved out because a Sufi Shia had asked for it;
ultimately the geo-political requirements of the USA, in Cold War era, needed a
smaller and manageable country to counter the USSR if it eyes Afghanistan and have
easy access to the West Asia; the US was sure that India as a monolith couldn’t
be manipulated to fulfill its requirements and this perception of the US about
India has stood the test of time even during Russia-Ukraine conflict.
So, Pak since early
50’s continued to be hand maiden of the US, that was to be the destiny of a
Nation founded on irrational world view; the PM Imran Khan said “Absolutely
Not”; the Ghost was annoyed because American $ dried up for Ghost to pocket and
then came the statement of “being neutral” and that infused fresh blood in the
veins of the opposition and other institutions of Pak.
The Ghost has made
political situation very precarious in Pakistan and what next is a question
that only Time can answer. India wouldn’t mind a smaller neighbour, but well
behaved.
